Two-factor authentication adds a second step to the sign-in. After you enter your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone or computer. Each user turns it on for their own account.

Turn on two-factor authentication

Open Settings

Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then click Settings.

Open Security

Click Security. The Two-Factor Authentication section shows the status Enabled or Disabled.

Start the setup

Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication.

Confirm your password

Enter your current password and click Continue.

Scan the QR code

Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, type the Manual Entry Key into the app. Click Copy to copy the key.

Enter the verification code

Type the 6-digit code from the app in Verification Code. Click Verify & Enable.
RelayHub shows the message “Two-factor authentication has been enabled.” The status changes to Enabled.

Sign in with two-factor authentication

  1. Enter your email and your password.
  2. The Two-Factor Authentication screen opens. Type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app in Authentication Code.
  3. Click Verify.
The code in the app changes every 30 seconds. If a code expires before you click Verify, type the new code. To go back to the first sign-in screen, click Back to login.

Move to a new device

Do this step while you still have the old device. The old codes stop working when you finish.
  1. Turn off two-factor authentication with a code from the old device. See Turn off two-factor authentication.
  2. Turn it on again and scan the new QR code with the app on the new device. See Turn on two-factor authentication.

If you lose your device

RelayHub does not use backup codes or recovery codes. If you lose the device with your authenticator app, you cannot sign in. Ask your administrator for help.

Turn off two-factor authentication

  1. Go to Settings and click Security.
  2. Click Disable MFA.
  3. Enter your Password and a current Verification Code from your authenticator app.
  4. Click Disable MFA.
RelayHub shows the message “Two-factor authentication has been disabled.”

Authenticator apps

Any authenticator app that makes time-based 6-digit codes works with RelayHub. Examples are Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, and Bitwarden.
