A bot is an AI coworker that does a job for you. You describe the job in plain words. The bot is active as soon as you create it: it starts on the job, or asks you a few questions first when the job is general, and then it works on its own: it reads files, uses websites and desktop apps on its own computer, runs routines on a schedule, and tells you when it is done. It asks you first before it does something risky, for example a payment or an email to another person. Each bot has its own chat, its own tasks, its own memory and its own monthly spend limit. A bot stays the same between tasks, so it learns how you like the work done. Open Bots in the sidebar. It is the second item, directly under Dashboard. You need the Agents permission to see it.

The Bots screen

The Bots screen has three parts:
  • The bots list on the left. It shows New bot, All bots, each of your bots with its status, and your groups.
  • The bot page in the middle. It shows the chat with the selected bot.
  • The Details panel on the right. It shows the current task, the routines and the spend of the bot.
The first time you open a Bots page in a browser session, the main app sidebar collapses to give the bot more room. Use the sidebar button to expand it again.

Collapse or expand the bots list (the sidebar)

The bots list on the left is a sidebar that you can collapse to avatars only.
1

Find the arrow button

At the top of the bots list, next to New bot, there is a small arrow button. Its name is Collapse bots list.
2

Click it to collapse the list

The list shrinks to the avatars of your bots. Point to an avatar to see the name and the status of the bot.
3

Click it again to expand the list

When the list is collapsed, the same button is under the plus icon, with the name Expand bots list.
RelayHub remembers your choice in this browser. There is no keyboard shortcut for the bots list. On a phone or a narrow window there is no bots list: use All bots or the search to change bot. To collapse or expand the main app sidebar, use its own button, Collapse sidebar or Expand sidebar.

All bots and Needs you

All bots (/bots) shows every bot you own. New bot is the first button of the page header. A company admin also sees More, which holds the controls of the bot demo.
  • Needs you lists every item that waits for you, from all bots: approvals, questions, steps to check, proposed settings, emails that are ready to send, passwords and spend limits. Each item names its kind, for example “Approval”, “Question” or “Password”. You can answer most of them there with the same buttons as in the chat, or click Open chat. A proposed setting shows the value that Accept applies.
  • Bots shows each bot as a card. Use the filters All, Needs you, Working and Paused, and sort by Status, Name or Recent activity.
  • Activity shows what your bots did recently.
The page also shows what your bots spent today. When something needs you, the list item reads “All bots, N need you”, and the browser tab shows the number.

Status of a bot

Under the name of each bot, the bots list shows one line about its last task, for example “Working: (task title)”, “Finished: (task title)” or “Stopped: (task title)” when you stopped it.

Bots on a phone

On a phone, the Bots pages show one screen at a time.
  • All bots is the first screen. Its three tabs are Needs you, Bots and Activity.
  • A bot page and the New bot page have a back arrow at the top left. It goes back to All bots.
  • The actions of a bot message, Reply and More (with Copy), are in a row under the message.
  • When new messages arrive while you read older ones, a Jump to latest row shows under the chat with the number of new items. Tap it to go to the newest message.
  • When you open a link to a card that is gone, a line says “This request is no longer here. It was answered or removed.” Tap Close.
On a phone you can install Bots as an app and get notifications. See Bot settings.

Find a bot

  • Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) on any Bots page to open Find a bot or group. Type a part of the name or the description. The last row, Search all of the product, opens the RelayHub search.
  • When you have more than eight bots, the bots list also shows a Find a bot field. Press Esc to clear it.
