The search finds conversations by title and by message content. It also finds files by name. It looks through everything you own and everything that other people share with you.

Open the Search dialog

Click Search in the sidebar. You can also press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows and Linux) on any screen.

Type your search

Type at least three characters in the Search conversations… box. The results show below the box. A result that matches the text of a message shows an In message tag.

Open a result

Click a result to open that conversation at the message that matches. The dialog closes.
To see more results, press Enter. When there are more results than the dialog shows, you can also click View all at the bottom of the list.

The results page

The results page shows all matches in a table. The table has these columns: Conversation, Match, Owner, Last Activity and Messages. The Match column shows Title or Message, and the snippet shows your search words highlighted. Click Load more results to see the next set of matches.
The search looks through your own conversations and the conversations that people share with you. It does not look through the private chats of other people.

Find files

The search also looks through your Files. When your search matches a file name, the file shows in a Files section below the conversation results. Each file row shows the file name and where the file is (personal, workspace or company). Click the download icon to download the file. You do not have to open Files. The results page also has a Files section.
The file search matches file names only. It obeys the same access rules as Files. You see the files that you uploaded and the company and shared files. You never see the private files of another person.
Search for words that someone used in the chat, not for a general subject. “Q3 forecast assumptions” finds the exact message. “finance” finds many conversations.
